Wireless Broadband

Wireless Broadband Technology

Wireless broadband is a super fast internet service via wireless technology. We can often notice it internet cafes, hot spots within the city, business establishments, and many homes. Wireless technology allows users to use their computers and equipments without hassles of any-cable connected devices. Wireless broadband works by sending data from one location to another by bouncing signals. In wireless broadband, the wireless router sends the signal to the remote server and the server bounces back the signal to the wireless router so the connection can be made for the wireless internet services.

If you are planning to have a wireless internet you must consider the following:

  • A wireless enabled laptop with Wi-Fi 802-11 wireless standard.
  • Built-in networking or an add-on wireless card.
  • Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), usually the automatic or default protocol for joining a wireless network.

Advantages of Wireless Broadband

The main advantage of wireless broadband is the “speed”. The wireless broadband can provide a fast broadband speed approaching to 2 megabytes per second or more. Wireless broadband is also affordable compare to any satellite broadband. It is also incredibly responsive compare to others especially when you upload webpage’s, download emails, or when you engage in video conferencing or teleconferencing. No call charges when you use the internet and you can always share your connection with the others.

Wireless Broadband Precautions

With wireless broadband, it is needed to be sure to use wireless security standards to ensure that all private information is safe and that devices are safe to use. The FCC is addressing two important issues concerning wireless broadband – Interference Protection and Radio Frequency Safety. For Interference Protection, the FCC imposed rules limiting transmission power, antenna configurations, and prohibiting interference to other licensed users of radio spectrum. For Radio Frequency Safety, the FCC is testing products for RF safety compliance. For access intrusion, there are many firewalls available out there that work well for this purpose or you can look into using a network system to set up password protected connections.
